I could hold back no longer. Without really thinking, I
responded, "You're looking for a 'ten'? But, brother, look at
yourself. You're like a 'six.' If you ever find the woman you're
looking for, and she has your attitude, what makes you think
she would have you?"
Beg of Christ to exercise his spiritual surgery upon you. Desire him to lance your heart and cut out the rotten flesh, and that he would apply the medicine of his blood to heal you of your hypocrisy. Say that prayer of David often: 'Let my heart be sound in they statutes' (Psalm 119:80)
After last week's sermon on prayer (http://www.covlife.org/sermons/), another stretch of metaphors/analogies came to me. I was reminded and was refreshed with a desire to be persistent in prayer, and to keep knocking.(Luke 11:9). I imagined that to be pretty tiring after a while if God's plan is to teach me something by keeping me at the door. That would be a great shoulder work out. I then thought about kidney failure and how it has affected my bones (http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseases/pubs/renalosteodystrophy/index.htm) specifically my clavicles. I have always been self-concious of my narrow shoulders since it is a physical reminder of toxicity inside of me. God's Word reveals an awesome promise of glorification, which like my justification and santification, I am banking on God with. Therefore, my physical shoulders should not be a source of sadness but a reminder that God's going to take care of it. But maybe God wants me to work on having HUGE spiritual shoulders by persistently knocking.
